My daughter's confidence and riding ability have grown massively since starting with Barefoot and Wild, she had never really been in a horse before and is now cantering and jumping. We have found Hamish and Ava to be supportive, knowledgeable and flexible in their approach to meet the needs of the rider.
I have worked in social services in the area of family violence for the last 25 years and can see the massive potential for children, youth and adults who have experienced trauma to greatly benefit from their programme. Specifically in the area of building attachment, nervous system regulation, boundaries and confidence building.

My kids have all had their introduction to horses through Hamish where they have all been led at their own pace and level of comfortability, now all loving riding. My daughter has been having weekly lessons for a year and thrives in the environment provided. She is taught not just about horses and riding but also herself. On the occasion she is pushed out of her comfort zone she is guided respectfully with great communication, coming out the otherside feeling on top of the world. It's truly her happy place!

My daughter has been riding for quite sometime but has always struggled with her anxiety holding her back. Hamish has been wonderful in understanding her personality and needs, and knowing when to push her or not. She is often smiling ear to ear all day after her lessons and looks forward to it every single week

Being city folk it’s always hard to connect in with horses and the only access I guess is driving past in a car, or books . I have taken my children to riding clubs for birthdays or farm visits but have to say nothing has ever connected my children in like they do at barefoot and wild. This is not an experience that involves riding tired horses going through motions . My children learnt how to feel and connect in on a spiritual and emotional level and the absolute honour it is to gain the trust of such magical powerful animals , learning the ways to approach and communicate in a respectful loving way. This translates through many areas in life dealing with school friendships and gaining life lessons of internal strength. Hamish and Ava are so very intune with the horses and have a very beautiful energy calm and consensual way of learning adapting to the individual needs of both animals and people. We feel blessed to have access in this way to a truly intimate experience mind body and soul with such magnificent people and horses .
