About Us

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

After seeing the rise in mental health issues within the community we started looking for ways we could bring it into our work with our horses. Through our search we found Sue Spence and her well established and successful programme so we became facilitators for our region. Not only does the programme and training give us a proven platform to work from, the support and network from others with the network is invaluable. We have worked with clients struggling with issues from anxiety, anger management, emotional regulation, motor function rehab, etc.
The beauty of working with horses is we are tapping into skills learned over thousands of years to help the horse survive.
This makes the horse extremely intuitive and receptive to subtle changes in body language, intent, and emotional states.
The beauty of this is when our clients are making subtle changes within themselves the horse will respond accordingly.

Our Story

As a child Hamish had a passion for horses but his family were never in a position to have them. It was always jumping on someone else's whenever he had a chance that kept the passion alive.
It wasn't until having children of their own that, together with his wife Dawn, they decided to get their own for their girls.
It was through this and seeing some of the amazing work from the likes of the Wilson sisters with wild horses that really got them looking at better ways to communicate with their horses.
The majority of horses that they now own are from the wild, either Kaimanawas or Northland bush ponies. The challenge of forming a bond, trust and positive communication with these once wild horses they found too powerful to be kept to themselves. This is why they have chosen to help others to see the magic these majestic creatures can teach us, both in our own day to day lives and life long lessons.
